Christ Church Cathedral Messiah Sing-In

Messiah Sing-In
With Music City Baroque at
Christ Church Cathedral, November 23

What says Christmas more than Handel’s Messiah? On Monday, November 23, 7:30 p.m., the community will have the opportunity to join in on the best-loved choruses from Handel’s Messiah with the premiere early music ensemble, Music City Baroque at Christ Church Cathedral, 900 Broadway in downtown Nashville. Music City Baroque (formerly Belle Meade Baroque) is a professional orchestra directed by Murray Somerville using authentic instruments and baroque performance practices
A special addition to the festivities is a performance in the first half of the concert of J.S. Bach’s sublime Magnificat in D sung by the Music City Baroque Chamber Chorus with guest trumpeter Brian Shaw. To start the evening, the orchestra, led by guest concertmaster Stephen Redfield, plays the last great Concerto Grosso of Handel, marking the 250th anniversary of his death. .

After intermission, when holiday refreshments will be served, the audience will become part of the performance as they sing their favorite Messiah choruses. Amateur and professional singers, choir members, folks who just like to sing in the shower and all who enjoy listening to fine music are welcome. This is a splendid way to start the holiday season! (And as a special bonus, if you’re a tenor, singing the Hallelujah chorus at proper baroque pitch will make all those high notes seem so much easier; you’ll feel like Pavarotti all over again!)

Messiah Sing-in…and more is part of Christ Church Cathedral’s Sacred Space for the City Arts Series sponsored by Friends of the Cathedral. General admission is $10, $5 for students and 65+. Group tickets for 10 or more in advance with their own musical scores are also $5 each. Advance tickets are available at 615-255-7729 or online
*Music will be available on a first come basis, and participants are encouraged to bring their own scores.

Give & Get $5 with Red Roof - Phil Vasser Ambassador

GIVE AND GET $5: RED ROOF LOCATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY HIGH FIVE’S GUESTS WITH $5.00 CASH BACK TO THOSE WHO DONATE TO FEEDING AMERICA
Unprecedented promotion is in conjunction with Country Music star, Red Roof Brand Ambassador and Feeding America spokesman, Phil Vassar

Red Roof guests will be high-fiving Thanksgiving week when they pocket a five dollar bill for making a dollar donation to charity. Red Roof will give $5 cash back to every guest making a minimum $1 donation to Feeding America® during the week of Thanksgiving, Sunday Nov. 22 through Sunday Nov. 29. Donations must be made at the property and guests will receive the rebate upon check out; the $5 back is per stay, not per night. It is Red Roof’s way of giving back and showing their thanks by teaming up with Feeding America and Country Music artist and Red Roof Brand Ambassador, Phil Vassar to help put food on American tables over the holidays.

Country Music star Phil Vassar, who recently released his single, “Everywhere I Go,” earlier this year, was the spark for this promotion. Vassar, a Red Roof Brand Ambassador and an invaluable part of the company’s Red Roof Loves Country campaign, is also a national spokesman for Feeding America and tirelessly raises money for the organization. “Feeding America gives to so many across this country,” says Vassar. “I’ve always been a big supporter of theirs because I believe in their mission, their purpose and their amazing results; their network supports approximately 63,000 local charitable agencies that distribute food directly to Americans in need.”

“Everywhere our guests go this season, and check in at a Red Roof, they will have the opportunity to show their holiday spirit by giving to a worthy cause,” says Marina MacDonald, SVP, Sales and Marketing, Red Roof Inn. “Red Roof is happy to reward our guests’ generosity—it’s the perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving.”

The promotion will also be supported through various channels including a series of Phil Vassar radio interviews across the country; radio promotions; Redroof.com banners that link to the Feeding America website for additional donations; a reservation center on-hold message recorded by Vassar; lobby posters and front desk materials in 350+ hotels; and a GAC-TV spot tag among other initiatives.
The Red Roof Thanksgiving High Five promotion kicks off a season of savings for Red Roof guests this winter. See our Snowbird and Red Hot Deals Travel Roundups to learn more and go to redroof.com for full details.
